Token Allocation
All allocations are enforced on-chain via time-locked smart contracts. Microsoft holds no privileged minting capability beyond the initial Genesis issuance.
| Allocation | Amount (CPT) | Distribution | Percentage | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| User Rewards Pool | 6,000,000,000 | Daily — usage-based | Distributed to Copilot users based on prompt complexity scoring | |
| Microsoft Treasury | 1,500,000,000 | Vested over 36 months | Operational funding, future program enhancements, and strategic reserves | |
| Ecosystem Development | 1,000,000,000 | Milestone-gated grants | Developer grants, third-party integrations, and partner ecosystem growth | |
| Liquidity Reserve | 1,000,000,000 | Locked 12 months | Protocol-owned liquidity provisioning on Optimism decentralized exchanges | |
| Early Validators | 500,000,000 | 12-month cliff, 24-month vest | Distributed to node operators securing the reward calculation network |
Vesting Schedule
All non-user-rewards allocations are subject to time-locked vesting contracts. These contracts are publicly verifiable and cannot be modified by any party.
Unutilized rewards are carried forward. No expiration on earned tokens.
Months 7–42: linear monthly release over 36 months.
Released programmatically to liquidity pools thereafter.
Months 13–36: linear monthly release over 24 months.
Token Utility
$CPT is a utility token with defined in-ecosystem use cases. It is not a security, investment product, or store of value.
-
Copilot Rewards
Primary utility: earned automatically by Copilot users based on compute complexity scoring. Distributed daily to connected wallets.
-
Governance Voting
$CPT holders can vote on Reward Tier adjustments, Ecosystem Grant approvals, and protocol parameter changes via the CPT Governance DAO.
-
Copilot Pro Feature Access
Accumulated $CPT balances unlock premium Copilot features — extended context windows, priority inference queues, and experimental model access.
-
Staking for Validator Nodes
Phase 2 (Q3 2026): enterprise partners may stake $CPT to operate validator nodes and earn a share of network verification rewards.
-
Ecosystem Partner Payments
Third-party developers building on the Microsoft Copilot API may accept $CPT as payment for extensions, plugins, and integrations within the Microsoft Store.
